Anon's feelings are justified, but I would implore newbies to not base their value on hits, likes and kudos. Take it from someone who had a fic in another fandom with 6k+ kudos and 180k+ hits, it's never truly your writing that brings this kind of popularity. The two most crucial elements to success are the timing and the rate at which you're uploading. Because I will admit straight away: my writing was shit and I cringe every time I take a look at those drafts. I have seen many brilliant authors get little to no engagement, whose writing calibre is 10 times better than the some of these really popular fics with over 1k notes.

I think we Alysmond shippers should take a page from Aegon (or better yet Helaegon) fans. Despite their content not getting enough hits/likes initially, these fans have managed to carve out a little niche for themselves and now there is plenty of material to explore in this section. I think much of this (i.e. the general dismissal of Alys) is to do with how popular Aemond is, because over 70% of his fics are still written by TB fans. I haven't seen a crossover like this in this fandom. I have barely seen even 5% of TG fans interact with Daemon content; most I have seen is them just focusing on Rhaenicent.

It's no secret that fic popularity definitely benefits from the approval of those who are a part of a so-called in-group. Being a member of a clique is definitely going to get you more likes, kudos and engagement. BUT I would also say that much of it is very open and transparent for all to see; everyone knows who belongs where and who shares whose content. And in a literary community that is meant to share, discuss and engage in discourse more honestly, these kind of trends unfortunately dampens the whole experience. So yeah, fuck clique culture; you should still strive to find your place among the crowd and seek out a niche, but try to avoid this in-group sentimentality.

Honestly, I'm not much of a friendsy person online. I'm nearing 30 with bills to pay and mouths to feed. I rarely have time for games which to me are best reserved for younger fans.

But my advice is don't take things to heart. Don't let things be personal. Value yourself and just keep doing and liking what you enjoy, despite of whether people want to be friends with you or not. If I cared what people thought my blog would be down ages ago and I've been on here posting what I like for 6 years!!

I'm still flabbergasted by how their minds cannot separate Hinduism from Hindutva. It's genuinely so hard for them to do so because they're so deep in the RSS propaganda rabbit hole that they can't see the difference between religion and religious nationalism anymore. These people will complain about Islamic nations and it's hypocritical because the end goal of their Hindutva nonsense is that India becomes a religious state too.

They want to flatten everyone down into the label of "hindu" because diversity hurts their cause. They want things to be homogenous, easier to control. When someone points out their casteism, they'll turn around and say that the person pointing it out is the one creating divisions. Like they weren't freely enjoying the benefits that their upper caste status brings them. It's so bizarre. They want caste to be invisible but still ever-present. It's easier to profit off of it that way.

Queer people are just tools to be used in an argument to them. They want to be so different from the abrahamic religions and yet they follow the same archaic attitudes about queer people as them. They will also completely ignore intersectionality and point to a successful rich savarna queer person as an example of how queer people are so accepted in India.

I saw some of them praying for Kalki to come and finish it all and it was funny to me. Do they believe Kalki would believe in Hindutva of all things? Be for real.

To My One and Only Friend - Poorly Recapped Shinya Tennoji Character Quest

An English translation Shinya's character quest had once been uploaded online, but I haven't been able to find it since then for some reason. I inadvertently saved it through a speedy recap I texted to my friend, and am posting what I wrote.

The CQ starts with a dream of an old memory; of child him telling his mom he loves her. He wakes up and gets depressed but then gets ready for his cafe job.

He invited MC to hang out with him after he finishes work, and depending on what dialogue option you pick, he actually likes it if you're a little mean to him because everybody's always fawning over him due to his infatuation magic so its a breath of fresh air. The reason why you're not influenced by his unconditional charm is because your magic is to rend things, so you're immune to such influence since you can cut it off.

Kalki asks Shinya about their usual something routine something, but Shinya says he's doing something different today. He wants to hang out with you alone because his request is something only you and him can do together.

So the two of you go for a walk, and everybody turns their heads to stare because Shinya is soooooo cute. He points at a cloud and everybody's heads turn to look. You say it looks like a donut, and he's like, haha it does. He would like to serve donuts at the cafe, but it's a very small cafe, so frying them would be a lot harder there, than in a place accustomed to serving donuts.

Anyways, Shinya's face is so innocent and pure, the crowd is growing bigger, so we gotta skadoodle. You finally ask him about what he wants to do, and he's surprised because he's not used to people being so blunt like that.

He came to find a troublesome person, and he's hoping that person would come and attack Shinya since he looks so pure and weak. And that person indeed comes: it's Purple Fencer. And he's like, follow me into this back alleyway, and Shinya goes oke. You obviously object but Shinya reassures you. Purple Fencer remarks that Shinya isn't being accompanied by his usual bodyguard today (Kalki), so now's the time to attack.

A bunch of other mobs come out, and they prepare to mug Shinya, and they also mention he's moderately wealthy/rich. He smiles, because he's glad everybody conveniently gathered in one spot and how he's also sorry everybody gathered here in one spot. He didn't want to do it but it's the only way. He summons his arrows and they fight.

We cut to Ophion and Xolotl. Ophion organized the hit on Shinya, and has decided to suspend the mission because Shinya simply charms all of the attackers and recruits them onto his side, so it's a waste of resources. Shinya's not even using a fraction of his power to do so, but there will come a time when they will be able to strike him down.

We cut back to Shinya and the mobs are all groveling on their knees and begging for his forgiveness. He tells them not to do bad things anymore and gives them a coupon for a discounted coffee at his cafe.

Shinya directs all of the people he seduces to his small business to gather everybody in one location in order to keep tabs on everybody and make sure nobody's goes too berserk. He begins to take MC to a safer location that's not an alleyway, but then MC scolds Shinya.

And he's like, "oh it must have been scary for you right, sorry about that" and MC goes, "no idiot don't put yourself in danger".

Shinya is surprised, and then asks what MC thought of what happened. If you say it was cool, he's disappointed, but he's happy if you think it was frightening because that's what it would appear like to a normal person, and not a charmed one.

Shinya says he goes out hunting for bad people to charm, because he has a lot of magic power, to the point of it overflowing, so he has to vent out stress and release it so he doesn't blow up the entirety of Tokyo.

It was manageable as a kid, but it got worse and worse over time. MC asks if there's any other way to release magic, and he goes silent for a minute. In the past, there was an important person to him who he dearly loved, but they're no longer here because he broke them.

But it's been such a long time, he's numb to it now, although he was obviously devastated for a while. (pretty sure that person was his mom, and that he either stored up too much power and blew her up by accident, or he drove her insane with love by using his magic on her too often in order to decompress) (fucked up either way).

His biggest wish is a normal friend, a person who can't be seduced by him, so he stammers out a request to be friends with MC, and it's also rare to meet people like that. You accept, and he says he was nervous you'd reject him, since he doesn't have influence on you, but it makes him happy as well.

He's all smiley and cute, and then he asks, with the smile still on his face, "MC if a point in time comes where I can't suppress my powers any longer and threaten to destroy the entire world :( Will you please end my life before that happens :) you're literally the only one who can"

He's like, yeah, it's a kind of a fucked up thing to ask somebody you've only recently become acquainted with, but there's nobody else but you, and the thought of what he might do is worse than the thought of being killed before it happens.

"I'll do anything, so please do it without any feelings of guilt or hesitation when the time comes, okay?"

You're about to say you'll save him, but he covers your mouth before you can respond. He apologizes and knows a true friend wouldn't just spring a request like that onto somebody. If his wish could come true, he wishes he could be normal friends with you, and he thanks you for getting mad at him before leaving.

When he gets home, there's a parcel in his room. He opens it and it's a paper plane spotted with blood splotches and a note saying" "Arrogant criminal, your sin won't disappear, and your punishment wont end."

Criminal, huh? For the first time in his life, Shinya is filled with a pure and innocent. Malice.

Fandom Dramathon

I currently have a few asks in my inbox, but I promise I will get to them when I am in a better mental state. However, this shipping discourse has reached its peak and it's now starting to become exhausting. Let's be real, the show-makers are only going to focus on Daemyra - their fallout and how it affects the final outcome of the dance. Every other ship will be pushed aside! Season 2 is only 8 episodes long, leaving little room for in-depth exploration of the Greens' family dynamic. According to sources, Episode 1 will focus on B&C while Episode 2 will reveal the aftermath. With such a limited number of episodes, there may not be enough time for any romantic relationships to be fully developed, despite some fans' hopeful delusions about their preferred "crackship" being featured in the series.

And FINALLY to those who enjoy criticising fans who are invested in certain "ships" within this fandom, can you please stop? Specially when it's coming from people who can't help but embarrass themselves every 3-5 business days...? Just let people ship what they want! This fandom would be much better off if some of you didn't have your heads stuck so far up your own "asses." Instead of vague-posting about how someone else is ruining the fandom for you, just block them and move on. It's really not that hard.

Had a mildly traumatic workplace incident today - a rookie at work was way too eager to demonstrate the dummy link he created for our latest campaign. Aaaand without asking, that bitch snatched my laptop and connected it to a projector and *BOOM* flashed it to a room full of 40-something men and my own lady boss. To everyone's morbid surprise, they were confronted with a collage of the beautiful Aemond Targaryen (with close-up reference shots for sketches)!
